Chamber Ensemble
This is a lesser-known call and response spiritual arranged by Anthony Trecek-King. He writes "The text draws on a theme of resilience toward freedom, toward home, in the face of slavery and its brutal working conditions." Chamber choir worked hard to perform this piece with integrity and authenticity to give homage to this important part of our history. Senior Haleigh Spencer got a standing ovation at the McKendree Choral Adjudication Festival for her improvised solo in this piece. Please give it a listen!

Course Description
Honors Chamber Ensemble (1st semester) Chamber Ensemble (2nd semester)
Full Year: ½ Credit Per Semester (Honors Credit 1st Semester Only)
Open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors - Prerequisite: Audition
Honors Chamber Ensemble is the premier choral group at OTHS and is a one-semester course focusing on the highest levels of vocal musicianship. Students will be introduced to advanced music theory,
focusing on the highest levels of vocal musicianship. Students will be introduced to advanced music theory, a large variety of vocal styles including a cappella, jazz, and several different foreign
languages. Voicing Ranges from SATB to 16 parts. The Madrigals and Jazz Choir are encompassed within this group. Chamber Ensemble has the largest time commitment of all the choirs, and students are
required to attend all performances, rehearsals, and outreaches.
